Advert – Chairperson for Citizens Advice Dacorum

Would you like to help shape the future of this local organisation, to better serve the people of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring and surrounding villages?

Citizens Advice Dacorum helps people resolve their legal, financial and other problems by providing information and advice, and by influencing national and regional policy makers. The charity is governed and managed locally but benefits from being a member of a large and influential national organisation.

We are a small, successful local organisation run by a trustee board, a Chief Executive, core staff members and a large team of volunteers. We are recruiting a new Chair for our trustee board, who will play a key role in the organisation’s future by providing, leadership and direction to the board of Trustees, and the CEO.

We are looking for someone with strategic vision, enthusiasm, strong leadership, independent judgement and a willingness to give time and commitment to being our Chair, to build upon the development of this crucial organisation.

Responsibilities include supervision of the CEO, ensuring that the trustee board provides long term strategic oversight of the organisation, and adherence to our membership agreement. Experience of being in a leadership role, income generation and an understanding of Citizens Advice’s role within the community would be an advantage.

This is a voluntary role with attendance at approx 14 trustee and committee meetings per year (generally held in The Forum, Hemel Hempstead), regular meetings with the CEO, as well as representation of the Charity at various events and meetings with key stakeholders. Reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
